How it all started
'Children are the future and their creativity should be bottled and given to all, twice a day for life.'
One of the people responsible for Take One Film School becoming a reality, won't even have the faintest idea he contributed to this. Sir Ken Robinson made a speach in 2006 about schools killing creativity. For me this was a life changing 20 minutes and set me on a path of finding ways we could stop children losing this amazing ability through no fault of their own, but because someone in Governement felt it was necessary to put academic skills ahead of all else, regardless of individual abilities and talents.
We want to encourage everyone from the youngest child to the oldest 'big kid' to be creative. Let your imagination run free and start to live your life. Free thinking and freedom of speech are gifts that can't be taken away and no matter how long you haven't used these gifts they are still within and can be re-ignited at any time. Film is just one medium that can bring out the creative within, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to experience the wonderful art of filmmaking.
Since 2006 and my life changing experience I have sought ways to help my own children become more creative, and also tried to find the creative within me. As I had been running a small production company and having also worked for the BBC in London for nearly 9 years, it was apparent that the TV and Film industry was the perfect way for me to help people become more creative and learn new skills. I am very excited about Take One Film School and the opportunities I hope it will give children and adults to develop their creative skills and have fun.
I hope that everyone who gives Take One a go will gain some knowledge about the TV and Film industry, but more importantly will discover the creative genius sleeping within and use this hidden talent to really make a difference to their lives.
Very best wishes to anyone reading this and whatever you chose to do in life be happy, be positive and be creative.
